Terms and Conditions.

General Guidelines

  • Clients who are going to be late or are unable to attend must notify me ahead of time. It is your responsibility to contact me to reschedule via WhatsApp, SMS or Email.

  • Clients are not allowed to come to a session under the influence of substance, should the therapy session be stopped and rescheduled.

  • You may be consulting other professionals about the challenges that brought you here. It is important that these people and I know we are working together.

  • I provide psychotherapy. Unless required by law, I do not write reports for medico- legal matters.

Confidentiality

  • All information shared during therapy are strictly confidential and private. I prioritize your sense of safety and assurance, ensuring that no information about your therapy participation will be disclosed to anyone without your explicit written consent for release of information or if you have given another health professional such as psychiatrist, social worker or nurse who is treating you permission to engage with me.

  • Nevertheless, confidentiality in therapy has legal boundaries. These boundaries encompass situations such as when the client poses a danger to themselves or others, makes credible threats of violence, disclose instances of child, elder or dependent adult abuse, or when compelled by a court order. If confidentiality is a matter of concern for you, please raise it during the initial session.

Personal Details

  • As you are entering into a therapeutic contract, the processing of your personal data is necessary. I take the storing and accessing of your personal information very seriously and confidentiality is of utmost importance. Your personal information will always be stored securely and only accessed by me. In the case of someone else responsible for your account, only the necessary details needed to process the payment will be shared.

  • Clients undertake to advise me within 7 calendar days of any changes to their personal details.

Medical Aid

  • I am registered with most medical aids. I use sophisticated software to ensure that medical claims are sent immediately and that client benefits are assessed before every session. However, it is still your responsibility to ensure that all fees are settled and that your medical aid will cover you for a session; otherwise, you will have to pay cash.

  • It will also be your responsibility to clarify any queries with your medical aid.

  • Under certain conditions I can apply for Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMB) on your behalf. By law, medical aids have an option for members to make use of PMB if the diagnosis (ICD-10 code) is covered. This can be discussed with you. Please note that such an application does not guarantee that you will receive PMB sessions.

Payment

  • It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that they have sufficient funds to pay for a session (if you are on medical aid, please see related information above).

  • In instances where a client is not responsible for the payment, the party who signs the contract will be held responsible for settlement of the account. Interest will be charged on accounts not settled within 30 days, as per the Prescribed Rate of Interest Act.

  • If an account is not paid for within two months, the client’s name will be added to a list of non-payers. Should it be necessary, all attorney-, client-, collection, and tracing costs, as well as interest related to recovery of any amount owed by the client, will be the responsibility of the client.

Cancellation

  • Clients need to be aware that a cancellation fee of R500 will be charged for appointments not cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. This is in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, Section 17 (3) (b).

Termination

  • You or I have the right to terminate treatment. This shall only be done after discussing it with you and in a professional manner, considering your best interest.

Social Media Personality

  • I do not accept or engage with current or previous clients on social media. This is to protect your privacy and confidentiality, as well as to keep to the boundaries of a professional, therapeutic relationship.

  • If you do happen to follow my work on social media, you are welcome to discuss it with me in session.
