Individual Therapy.
As the client, you will attend your appointment at the practice in a safe and comfortable space. Meeting your psychologist contributes to a strong therapeutic partnership between the client and psychologist. Cues such as body language and facial expressions are valuable for establishing trust and understanding and facilitating growth. This may be lost in written or online platforms. Lastly as face- to face therapy occurs away from your immediate environment clients may find it easier to express complex emotions in the presence of a supportive and empathetic environment. Being physically present can therefore facilitate a deeper emotional exploration. While online therapy has become more prevalent, face-to-face therapy continues to be the preferred option for many individuals due to its unique benefits.

Online Therapy.
Online therapy (teletherapy) allows the client to access therapy remotely in the comfort of your own space. This is like face-to-face therapy; however, we will meet online. Some clients enjoy the convenience of online therapy as it eliminates the need to travel to the therapist's office which may be beneficial for individuals with busy schedules, mobility issues, or limited access to transportation. Before you enter teletherapy there are important factors to consider.
Internet connectivityOnline therapy requires a stable internet connection on your side and a working camera, as you will be required to turn the camera on for the full duration of therapy.
A comfortable private space
Make sure you can feel safe in the place you chose for your session. It is your responsibility to ensure confidentiality on your end. Itβs not just any conversation β you need to feel confident that you can speak freely and are not interrupted.
Loadshedding
Loadshedding can disrupt therapeutic sessions. When scheduling appointments your area's loadshedding schedule should be taken into consideration.
Suitability
Online therapy is not for everyone. It is not suited for someone in crisis, with self-harm/ suicidal risk or active psychosis which requires hospitalization.
